WiFi Troubleshooting

If your camera is not coming online on the CamHipro app and instead is showing connecting or disconnected in blue writing, then below are a few things to try:

1. Check Camera Power

360 Camera: If you have a 360 Degree Camera, unplug the camera and plug the camera back in and check to see if the camera rotates on start up.

Static Camera: If you have a Static Camera, reset the camera by holding down
the reset button on the end of one of the cables coming out the back of the
camera for 30 seconds. Does the camera play a short tune during reset? If it does,
then please bear in mind that resetting the camera will reset the login username
and password to admin and you will need to try and reconnect the camera to your
WiFi network using the steps outlined in Step 4.

2. Check Antennas

360 Camera: Are all three antennas securely attached to the camera with no obvious signs of damage?

Static Camera: Are the two antennas securely attached to the camera with no obvious signs of damage?

3. Run a WiFi Speed Test

If the above does not work, it would be worth running a WiFi speed test to check the upload speed of your WiFi signal in the spot the camera is located.

  1. Stand next to the camera with your mobile phone to hand
  2. Use your mobile phone to search for available WiFi networks and ensure your connected to your home WiFi network and the same one the camera is connected to
  3. Once connected, open a web browser and search https://fast.com/
  4. The speed test will start to automatically run and once initially loaded, please press the ‘Show more info’ button which will run the second part of the test and most importantly, it will show the ‘Upload Speed’ which is what we are most interested in
  5. We are looking for an upload speed of at least 4Mbps. If you are getting a value significantly lower than this, then the slow upload speed in the spot the camera is located will be what is stopping the camera coming online on your mobile phone.

If this is the case, we would recommend hardwiring your camera back to your router or moving the camera closer to the router.

4. Reset your camera and reconnect to internet:

If your camera is not coming online and it is receiving power and there are no obvious signs of damage to the antennas, then it is worth carrying out a factory reset on the camera. The factory reset will return the camera to its default settings and allow you to reconnect the camera to your home WiFi network.

To reset the camera, hold down the small black button located on the end of one of the cables coming out the back of the camera for 30 seconds. The button may be covered by a black plastic cap and just pop this off to access the button. Once the reset is complete the following steps can be be used to reconnect to the camera:

  1. When standing next to the camera, use your mobile phone to search for available WiFi networks
  2. Connect to the network called IPCAM_**** using password 01234567
  3. Once connected, open the CamHipro app
  4. Check your camera is now online (username and password will be reset to admin)
  5. Tap on the settings cog for your camera and proceed to wireless setting
  6. Select to ‘Get the wireless networks around the device’ and then select your home WiFi and enter your home WiFi password
  7. Tap apply and this will reconnect your WiFi Camera to your home WiFi network

This should be your camera reconnected and available to view via your mobile phone from wherever you are!
